Albatross Golf League Rules

1. Scoring

  • Weekly Scoring: Each week, teams earn points based on finishing position within their division. Last place receives 70 points, second-to-last receives 80, and so on, with points increasing incrementally.

    • Example: In a 4-team division → 1st = 100, 2nd = 90, 3rd = 80, 4th = 70.

  • Complete Round: Teams must complete all 9 holes for their round to be eligible. Partial rounds will be considered a forfeit.

  • Weekly Tiebreakers: If two or more teams finish with the same score, they will split (average) the points for the positions they occupy. Example: Two teams tie for 1st → each receives the average of 1st and 2nd-place points (95 points each). The next team will receive points for the next position after the tie.

  • End of Season Tiebreakers: If two or more teams finish the season with the same total points, the higher final standing will be awarded to the team with more 1st-place finishes. If still tied, the tie will be broken by comparing 2nd-place finishes, then 3rd-place finishes, and so on until the tie is resolved.

  • Division Champion: The top team in each division at season’s end advances to Championship Sunday to compete for their flight title.

2. Score Reporting

  • If all 3 golfers use their TrackMan accounts during a round, scores will automatically update to the leaderboard.

  • In the case of an absent golfer, the team captain must take a photo of the final scorecard and email it to sean@thealbatrossnc.com.

3. Pace of Play

  • Teams are allotted 90 minutes to complete their 9-hole round.

  • Teams unable to finish within the allotted time are subject to forfeit.

4. Makeup Policy

  • Teams may request to move into open slots by contacting Sean (daytime slots available Mon–Thurs). Requests are handled first come, first served.

  • Failure to communicate and a no-show = automatic last-place points.

  • If no open slots are available, teams may book a bay at a discounted rate on another day.

  • All makeup rounds must be completed within the same week to avoid forfeit.

5. Absent Golfers

  • Teams registering 4 golfers may only field 3 per week.

  • A minimum of 2 golfers is required for a round to count.

  • For an absent 3rd golfer, teammates must alternate shots for the missing player - no substitutions outside of the registered roster.

  • Use of an unregistered golfer results in a forfeit.

6. Wrong Flight Penalty

  • Teams playing under the incorrect flight will receive a minimum 1-stroke penalty added to their weekly score.

7. Relegation & Promotion

  • At season’s end, the winning team in each flight earns promotion.

  • All other teams are re-seeded based on final standings to maintain competitive balance.

  • Additional promotions/relegations may occur depending on league size.

  • New flight assignments will be announced before Week 1 of the next season.

8. Simulator Issues

  • If hardware or software issues occur during a round, notify staff and Sean immediately so a solution can be arranged. Do not wait until the following day (or later) to report a problem. If an issue is brought up immediately, Sean and the staff have the best chance of finding a fair, real-time solution so the round can continue without disadvantage.

  • Complaints raised after the fact will not result in scorecard adjustments or retroactive changes.

9. Code of Conduct

The Albatross Golf League is built on camaraderie, competition, and respect. To protect the integrity of the league and the enjoyment of all players, the following standards apply:

  • Respect for Others: All league members are expected to treat fellow golfers, staff, and guests with courtesy and professionalism. Trash talk and friendly banter are part of the fun, but harassment, bullying, or personal attacks will not be tolerated.

  • Consequences: The Albatross reserves the right to issue warnings, deduct points, or dismiss any league member who fails to uphold these standards. Dismissals will be without refund.
