1. Scoring

 

Weekly Scoring: Each week, teams earn points based on finishing position within their division. Last place receives 70 points, second-to-last receives 80, and so on, with points increasing by 10 per position.

​

• Example: In a 4-team division → 1st = 100, 2nd = 90, 3rd = 80, 4th = 70.

Weekly Tiebreakers: If two or more teams finish with the same score in a given week, they split (average) the points for the positions they occupy.

​

• Example: Two teams tie for 1st → each receives 95 points (average of 1st and 2nd). The next team receives points for the next available position.​

​​

End-of-Season Tiebreakers: If two or more teams finish the season with the same total points, the higher standing is awarded to the team with more 1st-place weekly finishes. If still tied, compare 2nd-place finishes, then 3rd-place finishes, and so on until resolved.

​

Division Champion: The top team in each division at season's end advances to Championship Sunday to compete for their flight title. Note: This is separate from the promotion/relegation system (see Section 7).

2. Score Reporting

 

Automatic Reporting: If all 3 golfers use their TrackMan accounts during a round, scores will automatically update to the leaderboard.

​

Absent Golfer: If a team plays with fewer than 3 golfers, the team captain must photograph the final scorecard and email it to sean@thealbatrossnc.com within 24 hours of completing the round. 

​

TrackMan Failure: If a hardware or software issue prevents automatic score syncing, notify staff immediately (see Section 9). Do not wait until the following day. Staff will work with you in real time to ensure scores are recorded accurately. Score adjustments will not be made retroactively.

3. Pace of Play & Forfeit Conditions

 

Teams are allotted 90 minutes to complete their 9-hole round.

​

A round is subject to forfeit under any of the following conditions:

• The team fails to complete all 9 holes within the allotted time.

• Fewer than 2 registered golfers are present (see Section 4).

• An unregistered golfer participates in the round.

• The team plays under the incorrect flight (minimum 1-stroke penalty (see Section 6)

4. Absent Golfers

 

• Teams registering 4 golfers may only field 3 per week.

• A minimum of 2 golfers is required for a round to count.

• If a 3rd golfer is absent, teammates must alternate shots for the missing player. No substitutions outside the registered roster are permitted.

• Use of an unregistered golfer results in a forfeit.

5. Makeup Policy

 

Teams with at least 2 available players are expected to play during their scheduled league time. Reschedule requests in those situations will be denied.

If your team frequently struggles to field 2 players, consider adding an optional 4th alternate player.

​​

We understand that scheduling mishaps do happen and, as such, we give every team one free reschedule during the season to use at their discretion. After the first reschedule, all subsequent reschedules will incur a booking fee at 80% of our normal rate.

6. Wrong Flight Penalty

 

Teams playing under the incorrect flight will receive a minimum 1-stroke penalty added to their weekly score.

7. Relegation & Promotion

 

At season's end, the winning team in each flight earns promotion to the next flight for the following season. All other teams are re-seeded based on final standings to maintain competitive balance. Additional promotions or relegations may occur depending on league size. New flight assignments will be announced before Week 1 of the next season.

Note: Flight promotion is determined by final season standings and is separate from

Championship Sunday qualification, which is based on division titles (see Section 1).

8. Championship Sunday

 

Championship Sunday is held on the Sunday immediately following the last week of the regular season. Division champions from each flight compete for their flight title. Flight winners are automatically eligible for the bi-annual Alby Ryder Cup!

Format: Championship Sunday follows the same rules as the regular season — standard scoring applies and a minimum of 2 registered golfers is required to compete.

​

Roster Eligibility: The optional 4th alternate player is eligible to compete on Championship Sunday only if they have participated in more than 2 regular season rounds.

​

Tiebreaker: If two teams are tied after 9 holes, play continues hole-by-hole until one team wins a hole outright. There are no split points in Championship play.
 

No Makeups or Time Changes: Championship Sunday tee times are fixed. No reschedules or time adjustments will be granted for any reason.

​

Team Forfeiture: If a division champion cannot field the minimum 2 eligible golfers on Championship Sunday, their spot will be deferred to the 2nd-place team in their division.

​

Alby Ryder Cup: Championship Sunday winners are automatically eligible for the Alby Ryder Cup, held twice a year (Spring and Fall). The field is made up of winners from the two previous seasons. Winning teams become eligible for the Cup immediately following their championship.

9. Simulator Issues

 

If hardware or software issues occur during a round, notify staff and Sean immediately so a solution can be arranged. Do not wait until the following day — or later — to report a problem. When an issue is raised in real time, staff have the best chance of finding a fair solution that allows the round to continue without disadvantage.

Complaints raised after the fact will not result in scorecard adjustments or retroactive changes.

10. Code of Conduct

 

The Albatross Golf League is built on camaraderie, competition, and respect. To protect the integrity of the league and the enjoyment of all players, the following standards apply:

 

Respect for Others: All league members are expected to treat fellow golfers, staff, and guests with courtesy and professionalism. Trash talk and friendly banter are part of the fun — harassment, bullying, or personal attacks will not be tolerated.

Respect for Staff: League members must follow the directions of Albatross staff at all times. Staff are here to ensure smooth operations and fairness for everyone.

 

Respect for Equipment & Facility: Players are expected to handle the TrackMan simulators, clubs, and all other equipment responsibly. Damaging, neglecting, or misusing equipment may result in penalties or dismissal from the league.

 

Sportsmanship: Cheating, manipulating the simulator, or falsifying scores is strictly prohibited.

Consequences: The Albatross reserves the right to issue warnings, deduct points, or dismiss any league member who fails to uphold these standards. Dismissals will be without refund.
